Blocked networks

I was running a simple TFTP daemon on my laptop to upgrade some firmware images on phone adapters when I noticed a connection failure from some address I didn’t recognize. That’s weird. I typed in the address into a GEOIP lookup tool, and it was a network in China with over 8000 confirmed abuse complaints.

I don’t like the idea of someone port scanning through my router from China, so I used a really big hammer. I am dropping all their traffic into the sound rather than transit into Kitsap county

However, even though I know this is protecting my customers, there may be a legitimate network I am not aware of that someone wants to use. We will maintain a FAQ which will list all the networks that we are actively blocking. You don’t want some Russian or Chinese agency poking around to setup shop on your home computers to launch attacks to other targets in the US. If you are of the ilk to understand what my network blocking implies, take a breath and consider the calculus of convenience versus protecting many unsophisticated customers.
