We rode through that windstorm with 0 seconds of unplanned downtime!
Today we were struck with a significant windstorm. Power was knocked out for the entire Bainbridge Island. Our backup generator auto started; we were on backup power within 30 seconds of the lights going out. All our systems are dual AC power supply fed. One of the feeds is sourced by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) which auto switched to the generator. We have tested all this before; today was our first “live test”. Both the KPUD fiber network infrastructure and the Net253 infrastructure ran fine! Our cable based internet service at home failed after about one hour. Our fiber based internet service was up even when some of the local cell towers were down.
Yay team!
