Rate Increase coming 2021

Our 100mbps service operates on a razor thin margin. Most of the fee is returned to KPUD for network operations and out of county transport of your internet experience.

KPUD has determined that their wholesale rates are too low to support their operations and are increasing the wholesale rate by 11 to 14% depending on service speed effective January 1st. This is across the board for all ISPs on their network.

We need to increase our new subscription rates to prevent us from being underwater on 100mbps service. We strongly support 100mbps service; it is a great product and it is easy for a homeowner to “check” that we are delivering their speed. When we supply gig service, it is so fast that homeowners become sensitive to the performance of the big websites (amazon/google/netflix) and it is difficult to get a great speed test number at a home unless hardwired to the primary router (and the router is gig capable)

We will be increasing our rates by $5 for new subscribers or month to month users. For people under contract, we will honor the existing rate until the end of the contract and then adjust you to the new 12 month rate. You are then month to month unless you want to lock in another 12 months. Unlike the big players, we assume after a year you want options and we hate ETF discussions just as much as you do.

We are not increasing our profit, nor operating revenue with this change in fee. This is a pass through to cover the increase from KPUD.

Thank you for supporting us!

In case you were wondering, I had no idea about this increase when I wrote the previous blog note about "racing to the bottom”
