eChecks now work - Finally
Back in August, I enabled eChecks as a payment method on the quick pay link for Net253. eChecks are ACH transfers so you can send us money from your checking account without writing a check and without giving us any access to your account. I.E. you are in control.
The eChecks on the backend of authorize.net have a flat daily rate and just 0.7% transaction fee. That’s relatively cheap compared to Amex or one of those “3% back “ Visa cards.
Well, we started getting payment notices, but something was odd. The money never showed up in our merchant deposit account. Turns out "authorize.net” had to “underwrite” my account before they would release the funds. So the money was just sitting and accruing until some non specified review happened. At the end of October someone paid us for a bunch of work which resulted a eCheck over $1000.00. I called the authorize.net folks slightly exasperated and they finally agreed to “Start” “underwriting”.
This was approved a few days later, and today we got our first “ACH” deposit from them.
This means Janet can finally post credits to everyone’s account who has paid by eCheck since September 6th.
Everything will be smooth moving forward with eCheck; it was just a little teething pain for us in the beginning.
If you are an eChecker, please know that we appreciate you helping us reduce the amount of money the banks are skimming from us and in no fashion do we blame you for our ineptitude dealing with Authorize.net
