I can't handle my booze, no more payments in beer.
Today I zipped down to a local store on Winslow Way. Her internet/phone was offline. It showed red across the board on our management console. They have a UPS for backup; this site hasn’t had any downtime outside of maintenance windows in over a year.
Turns out they added a microwave to a power block that had the UPS plugged in. That is after they added a mini-fridge and a tea kettle and an air fryer…. The power went out… They thought everything was fine because the internet still worked…
The power strip (one of those wall mount over the receptacle jobbies) was melted. I replaced it with a power strip, plugged my UPS into the second outlet so they can trip the circuit breaker but not mess with my stuff when they restore.
Super easy, felt bad about a $65 service fee for 5 minutes of work. She offered to pay me in beer. Well why not? Can take it back to the office and make nachos after hours to treat the employees with some fancy beers and chips. She even loaded the four beers in a little carrier thing.
Back to the office, round the hallway corner to the kitchen area and the bottom drops out on the carrier - Beers away!!!
The 2 Longboard Lagers survived, but the Dos Equis and the other (cannot read it, too many pieces) shattered and its all over the kitchen floor. Guess the Hawaiians use better glass than the Mexicans.
My building partner (and high end builder who remodeled the place) is in the conference room during this whole event.
Having to mop up the beers and pick up all the pieces was bad enough.
The mocking by the builder and his crew has forced me to take a “No payment in Beer” policy. I can’t handle it.
