Ouch, that left a mark, Seabeck outage today (9/4)

Around 12:35 AM on 9/4 someone failed to turn the corner at Miami Beach Drive. They obliterated the KPUD cabinet and severed all the mainline and residential distribution fibers in the cabinet.

Because light can travel so far in optics, KPUD was able to bypass the cabinet to the next one (several miles up Stavis Bay Road). They then looped back to carry on and backfeed the customers served out of the missing cabinet.

Most, but not all folks are back online. KPUD had a big turnout to help; even Angela Bennink was there lashing with the electrical tape.

The Sherriff may have located the driver. This cabinet was a $60K installation; I am sure there will be conversations…
