If you have a google wifi mesh system, don't ever use the 'Priority' feature

Public Service Announcement:

Google WiFi mesh has been great, but in the summer ‘20 a small bug crept in. With the Nov 20th firmware update it is really messing with folks WiFi setups.

If you enable device priority, even once, even if then disabled, your system will not work like it originally did until you factory reset and rebuild the WiFi system. Yes, that stinks.

If you are our customer and feel like your WiFi isn’t what it was when we installed it, your system likely needs a factory reset and rebuild. My hope is that Google fixes their issue and the factory reset is not needed.

Should you toss it and get a new solution? That’s up to you. I have seen problems with solutions from Netgear, Ubiquiti, Google, and Eero. This stuff is complicated. All manufacturers will eventually screw up their firmware and have to fix it. The Google problem has been going on far too long, I am not installing new Google WiFi at the moment and have a few thousand dollars worth of them sitting on the shelf.
