Whacky Wednesday
What a morning!
We started with a rolling KPUD switch failure in Kingston. Residents on NE Country Woods Lane and NE 3650th St were calling in one after another saying “my internet is slow and then it completely died”
At the same time, iFiber (The second largest competitor on the KPUD network) had a massive core router failure over in Ephrata WA. iFiber dropped all customers for Chelan, Douglas, Kitsap, Mason, and Pend Oreille counties.
This is exactly why Net253 is only Kitsap. With a focus of only one county, one PUD, we can quickly resolve issues even when there are other larger issues happening. It was hard to get a hold of KPUD with the firestorm due to 600+ customers being offline by iFiber’s boo-boo. We were able to get a crew dispatched and the local outage restored (even for the other providers) in under one hour once we texted a supervisor. None of the other ISPs had reported the outage affecting 24 customers. Between Net253 and iFiber we cover over 85% of all the connections on the KPUD system.
We aren’t perfect. We will mess up sooner or later, but I promise your nobody on the KPUD fiber network tries as hard as we do.
